Visit from the family

We were very lucky to have Mom and Dad Cummins this week. I don't have any pics since I was out of batteries but thought I would update anyway. We started the week with a couple hours at the beach, the water was warm but the weather was HOT! We had record heat this week. We were in the 105-106 degrees for the time they were here. So the next day we headed out to the beach to escape. WOW what an escape!! We got there and the temp was 65 degrees!! It was amazing!! Anyway, the kids and I loved having the family here for a visit!

A new hike

We spent last sunday doing our two favorite things, hiking and exploring the beach. We started off at the McKay Marsch trail on post
It was a shorter hike, in between 1-2 miles, but we figured we owed them a shorter one after our first hike that was 5 miles. It was a nice trail, not concrete but definitely cleared. We even found thimbleberries.
Afterwards we went to a beach that is located on post called Solo Point. It was full of these little crabs that were running all over the beach, so the kids spent the better part of 2 hours collecting crabs.

Although the kids didn't seem to feel it, the water was freezing and Scotty and I didn't stay in long. While we were sitting on the beach we noticed porpoises in the water swimming so we were able to watch them for almost 30 minutes. It was alot of fun, even if everyone came back stinky!!

Shop Hop

We went on a shop hop this week and did it in many different ways. The first day we took all the kids and papa. We drove along the kitsap penninsula and up to Port Angeles. Where the kids and I got to see our first whale since we have moved to the northwest. We had a picnic and played on the beach. It was a blast. The second day just the girls went out, me Nana Nene and Sassy. The girls also received fabric and decided my roof was the way to display them. The last day I went out with just some friends and had a lot of fun. We hit 34 shops total so I think it was very succesful.

Capital Lake Waterpark

So today was the last day of school so we thought we would celebrate with a visit from nana and Nene and a trip to a park. We chose the Capital Lake waterpark. The kids had a blast and were soaked and tired. Eve loved acting like she was jumping with the fountains.

Family reunion

We attended a family reunion this weekend! It was a lot of fun to see family we hadn't seen in years. We also got to see Scotty's grandpa Dan and managed to get all the siblings in a pic with him. It was alot of fun, we played volleyball, toured Riverfront park, had a girl's and a guys' night out, bowled, attended a baptism and just got to have some time to visit. All of our nieces and nephews have grown by leaps and bounds and wish we could slow them down. And I really can't wait till we can get together again with them.

Riverside park hike!

We spent Memorial Weekend in Spokane at a family reunion for Scotty's side of the family. We had a blast and I will post more on that in a different post. But on Sunday we went and did a hike in the area. It was absolutely gorgeous!! The river was going full force and it was like 90 degrees. We hiked down at Riverside State park. The kids did great even though we made the mistake of letting them wear their crocks so we had to cut the hike short.
Although the trail scared me!
But at the end of the hike there was a huge rock and the kids had fun posing with it.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day all!!! I had a wonderful day. I was allowed to sleep in(a rarety) and then was served breakfast in bed to the tune of Happy Mother's day(ie happy birthday with a few word corrections.) Then we made backpack hiking survival bags and set out to go on our hike. We went to Point Defiance park and ate lunch on the beach. It was beautiful and we got to watch 2 seals play. Then we hit the trail.
We weren't able to locate a map of the trails so we used Scotty's trusty compass and wove our way around the peninsula. Well we wound around further than we thought. We ended up doing a 5 mile hike when all was said and done.
Neatless to say we are all a bit pooped but everyone of us carried our own backpacks and made it to the end, our kids are much tougher than I give them credit for, especially the two youngest. Well anyway, I hope you all had a wonderful mother's day!!
